A “Run for Unity” to mark the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) to commemorate the 148th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was organized on 31st October 2023 at Jalandhar Cantonment under the aegis of Vajra Corps.
Before flagging off, Brig Sunil Sharma, Commander, 11Corps Arty Bde greeted everyone on the occasion of National Unity Day and reiterated that the objective of the event was to make everyone to be aware about the importance of unity and harmony in the society. He also emphasized on the contribution of Shri Vallabhbhai Patel also knows as “Iron man of India” in unification and integration of nation, post independence.
The Run for Unity was flagged off from the Vajra Nature Park at 0600Hr. The aim of this run was to foster the spirit of unity and nationalism among the citizens and to increase the awareness about the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel towards the national integrity and unity. The course of run was 2.5 Km in which over 1500 defence personals participated enthusiastically and displayed the incredible spirit of Indian Army. Similar runs were organised at Amritsar and Ferozepur Cantt also.
