Seized Rs. 6.50 lakh of drug money, pistols, live cartridges, heroin, three cars
Jalandhar, (Jatinder Rawat)- : The Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested five hardcore criminals seizing Rs 6.50 lakh of drug money besides recovering .32 bore four pistols, six magazines, 32 live cartridges, 103-gm heroin, 550-gm intoxicant powder, three cars and sharp-edged weapon from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Sunny, his brother Smile, Love Kumar of Preet Nagar in Basti Bhure Khan, Divansh of Sodal Nagar and Happy of Sant Nagar.
Addressing a press conference, Commissioner of Police Gursharan Singh Sandhu accompanied by DCP Jaskiranjeet Singh Teja, said that a police party of CIA staff-II laid a naka at Ladowali road T-point and stopped white Swift bearing registration number (PB08-EW-8657) they were travelling in. He said that police personnel frisked the car occupants and seized weapons, contraband and drug money from the car. On their instances, the police party recovered two more cars.
CP said that Sunny and Smile were members of Aman-Fateh gang and were active in Jalandhar Commissionerate area for last few years. He added that both were now hatching conspiracy to rob a goldsmith in the coming days. They were facing several criminal cases in various police stations of Jalandhar, he added.
Sandhu told that a case under sections 21, 22 of NDPS Act and 25, 54 and 59 of Arms Act has been registered against them. Sandhu said that all of them would be taken on police remand and would be quizzed further about other incidents they involved.
